How we tested Tropical pod kit here
Tropical prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡1.68 per 10 ml.
We run tropical the same way in San José: same pod kit, same 7 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
The short version: tropical in San José works if the pod kit, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a tropical pod kit really costs in San José
Tropical prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡1.68 per 10 ml.
How we tested tropical in a pod kit
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every tropical bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
Where tropical goes wrong
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why tropical tastes flat after two days.
- Buying the cheapest pod kit available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long tropical in San José survives.

Frequently asked questions
How long does tropical in a pod kit last?
In San José we measured 7 to 8 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
Can I order IQOS online in Costa Rica?
Yes, tracked dispatch before 14:00, and delivery lands in 4–9 business days. Stock is batch-traced, so the bottle you receive carries a dated code.
Why does tropical taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the pod kit units we ran, a coil past 4 days turned the tropical blend itself harsh.
