Tobacco squonk mod IQOS in San José: the wholesale shortlist
Tobacco in San José: 10 units tested over 3 weeks, squonk mod formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Where buyers go wrong with tobacco in Costa Rica
The honest read on tobacco: 10 units through the same routine over 3 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
Tobacco in San José reaches the shelf in squonk mod formats, and the bulk ones are rarely the ones that stay in stock. Availability, not taste, is what breaks an order.
The short version: tobacco in San José works if the squonk mod, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a tobacco squonk mod really costs in San José
If you are looking at tobacco in Costa Rica, the first question is not strength. It is whether the squonk mod you are quoting actually fits the device on your desk.
How we tested tobacco in a squonk mod
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every tobacco bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
- Batch code and production date, so a tobacco bottle turned in 3 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a squonk mod arrives sealed but wrong.
Where tobacco goes wrong
- Mixing tobacco with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Chasing a discount on a squonk mod that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why tobacco tastes flat after two days.
The rules that apply here
Packaging for tobacco in Costa Rica must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.

Frequently asked questions
How long does tobacco in a squonk mod last?
In San José we measured 3 to 10 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On tobacco the budget price and the premium price can sit within ₡3.43 per 10 ml once 4–9 business days is counted.
What nicotine strength should tobacco start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a squonk mod.
