Plum starter kit IQOS in San José: the cheap shortlist
Plum in San José: 10 units tested over 7 weeks, starter kit formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
How we tested Plum starter kit here
Plum prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡1.8 per 10 ml.
Plum in a starter kit is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In San José the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
Below is the run we did for this search: 10 units, starter kit, same room temperature, same juice rotation. Where results varied, the variation is printed rather than averaged away.
What a plum starter kit really costs in San José
Plum starter kit reviews tend to be written after one tank. We run 10 units and 7 days per unit, because that is where the honest answer changes.
How we tested plum in a starter kit
- Pick the starter kit that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a starter kit arrives sealed but wrong.
- Stock depth: 10 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Batch code and production date, so a plum bottle turned in 7 weeks ago is not sold as new.
Where plum goes wrong
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long plum in San José survives.
- Chasing a discount on a starter kit that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority. Shipping of nicotine to Costa Rica runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
