Licorice vape pen IQOS in San José: the cheap shortlist
Licorice in San José: 7 units tested over 2 weeks, vape pen formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
What licorice costs in San José
Licorice in a vape pen is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In San José the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
There is no single best way to buy IQOS in Costa Rica. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
If you only read one line: the vape pen you buy decides how long licorice tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a licorice vape pen really costs in San José
We run licorice the same way in San José: same vape pen, same 2 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
How we tested licorice in a vape pen
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Pick the vape pen that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Spare parts availability for vape pen in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every licorice bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
- Batch code and production date, so a licorice bottle turned in 2 weeks ago is not sold as new.
Where licorice goes wrong
- Treating the advertised ₡47 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡2.18 per 10 ml.
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Costa Rica accept nicotine freight.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why licorice tastes flat after two days.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority. Shipping of nicotine to Costa Rica runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.
Wholesale lines to Costa Rica need import documents the retail shop does not; ask for them in writing before a bulk order.

Frequently asked questions
Is licorice legal to sell in Costa Rica?
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.
Why does licorice taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the vape pen units we ran, a coil past 6 days turned the licorice blend itself harsh.
What nicotine strength should licorice start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a vape pen.
