Iced starter kit IQOS in San José: the compare shortlist
Iced in San José: 23 units tested over 7 weeks, starter kit formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Coil life, liquid cost and the iced habit
We run iced the same way in San José: same starter kit, same 7 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
Iced prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡3.33 per 10 ml.
If you only read one line: the starter kit you buy decides how long iced tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a iced starter kit really costs in San José
Iced in a starter kit is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In San José the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
How we tested iced in a starter kit
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
- Spare parts availability for starter kit in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
- Stock depth: 23 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Coil type inside the starter kit, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
Where iced goes wrong
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long iced in San José survives.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Costa Rica accept nicotine freight.
