Guava refill pack IQOS in San José: the online shortlist
Guava in San José: 20 units tested over 2 weeks, refill pack formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Coil life, liquid cost and the guava habit
The honest read on guava: 20 units through the same routine over 2 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
We run guava the same way in San José: same refill pack, same 2 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
The short version: guava in San José works if the refill pack, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a guava refill pack really costs in San José
Most people searching IQOS in Costa Rica are not after a spec sheet. They want to know what it costs, how long it lasts and which shop will still service it in three months.
How we tested guava in a refill pack
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- Spare parts availability for refill pack in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
- Stock depth: 20 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
Where guava goes wrong
- Mixing guava with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Ignoring the batch date on a refill pack and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Costa Rica accept nicotine freight.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority. Shipping of nicotine to Costa Rica runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.
Packaging for guava in Costa Rica must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.

| Nicotine ceiling | varies | Legal retail limit in Costa Rica |
| Coil life | ~5 days | The hidden monthly cost |
| Delivery to Costa Rica | 4–9 business days | Buffer the reorder around this |
| Entry kit | ₡31 | What a first order really pays |
| Refill cost | ₡2.93 / 10 ml | The figure that decides the habit |

Frequently asked questions
How long does guava in a refill pack last?
In San José we measured 2 to 20 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
What nicotine strength should guava start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a refill pack.
Why does guava taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the refill pack units we ran, a coil past 5 days turned the guava blend itself harsh.
