Citrus box mod IQOS in San José: the flat shortlist
Citrus in San José: 16 units tested over 5 weeks, box mod formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Where buyers go wrong with citrus in Costa Rica
Citrus box mod reviews tend to be written after one tank. We run 16 units and 5 days per unit, because that is where the honest answer changes.
Most people searching IQOS in Costa Rica are not after a spec sheet. They want to know what it costs, how long it lasts and which shop will still service it in three months.
If you only read one line: the box mod you buy decides how long citrus tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a citrus box mod really costs in San José
Ordering into San José usually means waiting 4–9 business days. Plan the reorder around that, not around the flavour you like best.
How we tested citrus in a box mod
- Pick the box mod that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Coil type inside the box mod, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a box mod arrives sealed but wrong.
Where citrus goes wrong
- Ignoring the batch date on a box mod and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why citrus tastes flat after two days.
- Buying the cheapest box mod available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.

Frequently asked questions
Is citrus legal to sell in Costa Rica?
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.
How long does citrus in a box mod last?
In San José we measured 5 to 16 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
Why does citrus taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the box mod units we ran, a coil past 4 days turned the citrus blend itself harsh.
