Ordering IQOS to San José: the practical version
Citrus prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡2.48 per 10 ml.
If you are looking at citrus in Costa Rica, the first question is not strength. It is whether the 60 ml bottle you are quoting actually fits the device on your desk.
If you only read one line: the 60 ml bottle you buy decides how long citrus tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a citrus 60 ml bottle really costs in San José
A citrus 60 ml bottle from the flat-rate options in Costa Rica costs about ₡2.48 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
How we tested citrus in a 60 ml bottle
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Pick the 60 ml bottle that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Coil type inside the 60 ml bottle, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a 60 ml bottle arrives sealed but wrong.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- Batch code and production date, so a citrus bottle turned in 5 weeks ago is not sold as new.
Where citrus goes wrong
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Buying the cheapest 60 ml bottle available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Chasing a discount on a 60 ml bottle that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
The rules that apply here
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
