How we tested Vanilla vape pen here
Vanilla in San José reaches the shelf in vape pen formats, and the compared ones are rarely the ones that stay in stock. Availability, not taste, is what breaks an order.
We run vanilla the same way in San José: same vape pen, same 3 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
The short version: vanilla in San José works if the vape pen, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a vanilla vape pen really costs in San José
Vanilla vape pen reviews tend to be written after one tank. We run 17 units and 3 days per unit, because that is where the honest answer changes.
How we tested vanilla in a vape pen
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Pick the vape pen that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Spare parts availability for vape pen in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Coil type inside the vape pen, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
Where vanilla goes wrong
- Ignoring the batch date on a vape pen and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
- Buying the cheapest vape pen available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
The rules that apply here

Frequently asked questions
What nicotine strength should vanilla start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a vape pen.
Is vanilla legal to sell in Costa Rica?
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.
Why does vanilla taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the vape pen units we ran, a coil past 6 days turned the vanilla blend itself harsh.
