Tropical starter kit IQOS in San José: the price shortlist
Tropical in San José: 14 units tested over 7 weeks, starter kit formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Delivery, returns and what 4–9 business days really means
A tropical starter kit from the value options in Costa Rica costs about ₡3.18 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
The honest read on tropical: 14 units through the same routine over 7 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
The short version: tropical in San José works if the starter kit, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a tropical starter kit really costs in San José
Tropical sounds like one product. It is not: a starter kit running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
How we tested tropical in a starter kit
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Stock depth: 14 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a starter kit arrives sealed but wrong.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- Spare parts availability for starter kit in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
Where tropical goes wrong
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Chasing a discount on a starter kit that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
- Mixing tropical with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
The rules that apply here
Wholesale lines to Costa Rica need import documents the retail shop does not; ask for them in writing before a bulk order.
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
