Tropical mesh tank IQOS in San José: the review shortlist
Tropical in San José: 16 units tested over 3 weeks, mesh tank formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Ordering IQOS to San José: the practical version
Ordering into San José usually means waiting 4–9 business days. Plan the reorder around that, not around the flavour you like best.
Tropical prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡1.85 per 10 ml.
If you only read one line: the mesh tank you buy decides how long tropical tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a tropical mesh tank really costs in San José
There is no single best way to buy IQOS in Costa Rica. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
How we tested tropical in a mesh tank
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- Stock depth: 16 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a mesh tank arrives sealed but wrong.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
Where tropical goes wrong
- Ignoring the batch date on a mesh tank and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
- Mixing tropical with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Chasing a discount on a mesh tank that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.
Wholesale lines to Costa Rica need import documents the retail shop does not; ask for them in writing before a bulk order.

Frequently asked questions
How long does tropical in a mesh tank last?
In San José we measured 3 to 16 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On tropical the budget price and the premium price can sit within ₡1.85 per 10 ml once 4–9 business days is counted.
Why does tropical taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the mesh tank units we ran, a coil past 4 days turned the tropical blend itself harsh.
