Pear pen device IQOS in San José: the budget shortlist
Pear in San José: 22 units tested over 6 weeks, pen device formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Stock, batch codes and the dispatch window
Pear sounds like one product. It is not: a pen device running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
Most people searching IQOS in Costa Rica are not after a spec sheet. They want to know what it costs, how long it lasts and which shop will still service it in three months.
The short version: pear in San José works if the pen device, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a pear pen device really costs in San José
Pear prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡3.42 per 10 ml.
How we tested pear in a pen device
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Pick the pen device that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Batch code and production date, so a pear bottle turned in 6 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- Coil type inside the pen device, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
Where pear goes wrong
- Mixing pear with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Treating the advertised ₡68 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡3.42 per 10 ml.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority. Shipping of nicotine to Costa Rica runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.
Wholesale lines to Costa Rica need import documents the retail shop does not; ask for them in writing before a bulk order.
