Tropical 30 ml shortfill IQOS in San José: the guide shortlist
Tropical in San José: 17 units tested over 9 weeks, 30 ml shortfill formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Where buyers go wrong with tropical in Costa Rica
Tropical 30 ml shortfill reviews tend to be written after one tank. We run 17 units and 9 days per unit, because that is where the honest answer changes.
Ordering into San José usually means waiting 4–9 business days. Plan the reorder around that, not around the flavour you like best.
If you only read one line: the 30 ml shortfill you buy decides how long tropical tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a tropical 30 ml shortfill really costs in San José
Tropical in a 30 ml shortfill is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In San José the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
How we tested tropical in a 30 ml shortfill
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Pick the 30 ml shortfill that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Stock depth: 17 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- Coil type inside the 30 ml shortfill, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
Where tropical goes wrong
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Costa Rica accept nicotine freight.
- Treating the advertised ₡67 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡2.19 per 10 ml.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.

Frequently asked questions
Why does tropical taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the 30 ml shortfill units we ran, a coil past 6 days turned the tropical blend itself harsh.
How long does tropical in a 30 ml shortfill last?
In San José we measured 9 to 17 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
How much does a 30 ml shortfill cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in San José: about ₡2.19 per 10 ml liquid plus ₡67 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
