Tobacco refill pack IQOS in San José: the price shortlist
Tobacco in San José: 9 units tested over 5 weeks, refill pack formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Stock, batch codes and the dispatch window
Tobacco refill pack reviews tend to be written after one tank. We run 9 units and 5 days per unit, because that is where the honest answer changes.
Tobacco prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡1.74 per 10 ml.
If you only read one line: the refill pack you buy decides how long tobacco tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a tobacco refill pack really costs in San José
The honest read on tobacco: 9 units through the same routine over 5 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
How we tested tobacco in a refill pack
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Pick the refill pack that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Coil type inside the refill pack, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Stock depth: 9 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Batch code and production date, so a tobacco bottle turned in 5 weeks ago is not sold as new.
Where tobacco goes wrong
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why tobacco tastes flat after two days.
- Chasing a discount on a refill pack that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Costa Rica accept nicotine freight.
The rules that apply here
Wholesale lines to Costa Rica need import documents the retail shop does not; ask for them in writing before a bulk order.
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority. Shipping of nicotine to Costa Rica runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.
