Tobacco RDA IQOS in San José: the compare shortlist
Tobacco in San José: 15 units tested over 3 weeks, RDA formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Choosing a RDA for tobacco
We run tobacco the same way in San José: same RDA, same 3 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
Tobacco sounds like one product. It is not: a RDA running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
Below is the run we did for this search: 15 units, RDA, same room temperature, same juice rotation. Where results varied, the variation is printed rather than averaged away.
What a tobacco RDA really costs in San José

How we tested tobacco in a RDA
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Pick the RDA that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every tobacco bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- Stock depth: 15 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a RDA arrives sealed but wrong.
Where tobacco goes wrong
- Mixing tobacco with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why tobacco tastes flat after two days.
- Chasing a discount on a RDA that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority. Shipping of nicotine to Costa Rica runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.
Wholesale lines to Costa Rica need import documents the retail shop does not; ask for them in writing before a bulk order.

Frequently asked questions
How long does tobacco in a RDA last?
In San José we measured 3 to 15 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
Why does tobacco taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the RDA units we ran, a coil past 5 days turned the tobacco blend itself harsh.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On tobacco the budget price and the premium price can sit within ₡2.33 per 10 ml once 4–9 business days is counted.
