Ordering IQOS to San José: the practical version
The honest read on sweet: 24 units through the same routine over 2 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
Most people searching IQOS in Costa Rica are not after a spec sheet. They want to know what it costs, how long it lasts and which shop will still service it in three months.
The short version: sweet in San José works if the squonk mod, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a sweet squonk mod really costs in San José
Sweet in a squonk mod is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In San José the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
How we tested sweet in a squonk mod
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Spare parts availability for squonk mod in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
- Stock depth: 24 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Batch code and production date, so a sweet bottle turned in 2 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Coil type inside the squonk mod, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
Where sweet goes wrong
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why sweet tastes flat after two days.
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long sweet in San José survives.
- Mixing sweet with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
The rules that apply here
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.

Frequently asked questions
Why does sweet taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the squonk mod units we ran, a coil past 5 days turned the sweet blend itself harsh.
How long does sweet in a squonk mod last?
In San José we measured 2 to 24 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On sweet the budget price and the premium price can sit within ₡2.23 per 10 ml once 4–9 business days is counted.
