Sourcherry sub-ohm kit IQOS in San José: the price shortlist
Sourcherry in San José: 17 units tested over 5 weeks, sub-ohm kit formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Coil life, liquid cost and the sourcherry habit
Sourcherry in a sub-ohm kit is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In San José the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
Sourcherry sounds like one product. It is not: a sub-ohm kit running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
Below is the run we did for this search: 17 units, sub-ohm kit, same room temperature, same juice rotation. Where results varied, the variation is printed rather than averaged away.
What a sourcherry sub-ohm kit really costs in San José
Sourcherry sounds like one product. It is not: a sub-ohm kit running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
How we tested sourcherry in a sub-ohm kit
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a sub-ohm kit arrives sealed but wrong.
- Spare parts availability for sub-ohm kit in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
- Coil type inside the sub-ohm kit, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
Where sourcherry goes wrong
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Chasing a discount on a sub-ohm kit that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
- Ignoring the batch date on a sub-ohm kit and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority. Shipping of nicotine to Costa Rica runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.
Wholesale lines to Costa Rica need import documents the retail shop does not; ask for them in writing before a bulk order.

Frequently asked questions
Why does sourcherry taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the sub-ohm kit units we ran, a coil past 7 days turned the sourcherry blend itself harsh.
How long does sourcherry in a sub-ohm kit last?
In San José we measured 5 to 17 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
What nicotine strength should sourcherry start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a sub-ohm kit.
