Sour in San José: 18 units tested over 6 weeks, pod kit formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
What the label on Sour is allowed to say
Most people searching IQOS in Costa Rica are not after a spec sheet. They want to know what it costs, how long it lasts and which shop will still service it in three months.
Sour prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡3.23 per 10 ml.
If you only read one line: the pod kit you buy decides how long sour tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.

How we tested sour in a pod kit
- Pick the pod kit that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Spare parts availability for pod kit in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
- Batch code and production date, so a sour bottle turned in 6 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
Where sour goes wrong
- Treating the advertised ₡43 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡3.23 per 10 ml.
- Mixing sour with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
