Sour pen device IQOS in San José: the flat shortlist
Sour in San José: 24 units tested over 3 weeks, pen device formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Delivery, returns and what 4–9 business days really means
There is no single best way to buy IQOS in Costa Rica. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
Sour prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡3.59 per 10 ml.
Below is the run we did for this search: 24 units, pen device, same room temperature, same juice rotation. Where results varied, the variation is printed rather than averaged away.
What a sour pen device really costs in San José
A sour pen device from the flat-rate options in Costa Rica costs about ₡3.59 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
How we tested sour in a pen device
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Pick the pen device that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Spare parts availability for pen device in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a pen device arrives sealed but wrong.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every sour bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
- Stock depth: 24 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
Where sour goes wrong
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Costa Rica accept nicotine freight.
- Mixing sour with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why sour tastes flat after two days.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority. Shipping of nicotine to Costa Rica runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.
Wholesale lines to Costa Rica need import documents the retail shop does not; ask for them in writing before a bulk order.
