Salted starter kit IQOS in San José: the review shortlist
Salted in San José: 21 units tested over 7 weeks, starter kit formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Delivery, returns and what 4–9 business days really means
Salted in a starter kit is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In San José the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
The honest read on salted: 21 units through the same routine over 7 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
Below is the run we did for this search: 21 units, starter kit, same room temperature, same juice rotation. Where results varied, the variation is printed rather than averaged away.
What a salted starter kit really costs in San José
There is no single best way to buy IQOS in Costa Rica. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
How we tested salted in a starter kit
- Pick the starter kit that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every salted bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- Coil type inside the starter kit, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Batch code and production date, so a salted bottle turned in 7 weeks ago is not sold as new.
Where salted goes wrong
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long salted in San José survives.
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Costa Rica accept nicotine freight.
- Ignoring the batch date on a starter kit and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
The rules that apply here
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
Wholesale lines to Costa Rica need import documents the retail shop does not; ask for them in writing before a bulk order.

Frequently asked questions
How long does salted in a starter kit last?
In San José we measured 7 to 21 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On salted the budget price and the premium price can sit within ₡3.38 per 10 ml once 4–9 business days is counted.
What nicotine strength should salted start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a starter kit.
