Plum refill pack IQOS in San José: the wholesale shortlist
Plum in San José: 17 units tested over 7 weeks, refill pack formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Choosing a refill pack for plum
Plum prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡2.87 per 10 ml.
Plum sounds like one product. It is not: a refill pack running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
If you only read one line: the refill pack you buy decides how long plum tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a plum refill pack really costs in San José
Plum sounds like one product. It is not: a refill pack running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
How we tested plum in a refill pack
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Pick the refill pack that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- Spare parts availability for refill pack in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a refill pack arrives sealed but wrong.
Where plum goes wrong
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Ignoring the batch date on a refill pack and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
- Mixing plum with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
The rules that apply here
Wholesale lines to Costa Rica need import documents the retail shop does not; ask for them in writing before a bulk order.
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.

Frequently asked questions
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On plum the budget price and the premium price can sit within ₡2.87 per 10 ml once 4–9 business days is counted.
How long does plum in a refill pack last?
In San José we measured 7 to 17 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
What nicotine strength should plum start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a refill pack.
