Plain pod kit IQOS in San José: the wholesale shortlist
Plain in San José: 18 units tested over 2 weeks, pod kit formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Coil life, liquid cost and the plain habit
Ordering into San José usually means waiting 4–9 business days. Plan the reorder around that, not around the flavour you like best.
If you are looking at plain in Costa Rica, the first question is not strength. It is whether the pod kit you are quoting actually fits the device on your desk.
If you only read one line: the pod kit you buy decides how long plain tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a plain pod kit really costs in San José
Most people searching IQOS in Costa Rica are not after a spec sheet. They want to know what it costs, how long it lasts and which shop will still service it in three months.
How we tested plain in a pod kit
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Batch code and production date, so a plain bottle turned in 2 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every plain bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
Where plain goes wrong
- Chasing a discount on a pod kit that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
- Ignoring the batch date on a pod kit and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why plain tastes flat after two days.

Why does plain taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the pod kit units we ran, a coil past 5 days turned the plain blend itself harsh.

In San José we measured 2 to 18 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.

On the last run in San José: about ₡2.38 per 10 ml liquid plus ₡61 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
