Plum prefilled pod IQOS in San José: the cheap shortlist
Plum in San José: 7 units tested over 2 weeks, prefilled pod formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
How we tested Plum prefilled pod here
The honest read on plum: 7 units through the same routine over 2 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
If you are looking at plum in Costa Rica, the first question is not strength. It is whether the prefilled pod you are quoting actually fits the device on your desk.
The short version: plum in San José works if the prefilled pod, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a plum prefilled pod really costs in San José
Plum in a prefilled pod is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In San José the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
How we tested plum in a prefilled pod
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Pick the prefilled pod that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a prefilled pod arrives sealed but wrong.
- Batch code and production date, so a plum bottle turned in 2 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
Where plum goes wrong
- Mixing plum with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Costa Rica accept nicotine freight.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why plum tastes flat after two days.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.
Wholesale lines to Costa Rica need import documents the retail shop does not; ask for them in writing before a bulk order.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a prefilled pod cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in San José: about ₡2.19 per 10 ml liquid plus ₡59 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
Can I order IQOS online in Costa Rica?
Yes, tracked dispatch before 14:00, and delivery lands in 4–9 business days. Stock is batch-traced, so the bottle you receive carries a dated code.
Why does plum taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the prefilled pod units we ran, a coil past 6 days turned the plum blend itself harsh.
