Plum cartomizer IQOS in San José: the cheap shortlist
Plum in San José: 9 units tested over 9 weeks, cartomizer formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
How to tell a good cartomizer from a repack
Plum prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡2.43 per 10 ml.
Plum cartomizer reviews tend to be written after one tank. We run 9 units and 9 days per unit, because that is where the honest answer changes.
If you only read one line: the cartomizer you buy decides how long plum tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.

How we tested plum in a cartomizer
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Batch code and production date, so a plum bottle turned in 9 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Coil type inside the cartomizer, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
Where plum goes wrong
- Mixing plum with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Ignoring the batch date on a cartomizer and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
