Plain vape pen IQOS in San José: the compare shortlist
Plain in San José: 6 units tested over 5 weeks, vape pen formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Coil life, liquid cost and the plain habit
Plain sounds like one product. It is not: a vape pen running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
We run plain the same way in San José: same vape pen, same 5 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
The short version: plain in San José works if the vape pen, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a plain vape pen really costs in San José
We run plain the same way in San José: same vape pen, same 5 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
How we tested plain in a vape pen
- Pick the vape pen that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
- Spare parts availability for vape pen in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
- Batch code and production date, so a plain bottle turned in 5 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Coil type inside the vape pen, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
Where plain goes wrong
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Costa Rica accept nicotine freight.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Ignoring the batch date on a vape pen and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.
