Plain RDA IQOS in San José: the best shortlist
Plain in San José: 11 units tested over 2 weeks, RDA formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Where buyers go wrong with plain in Costa Rica
We run plain the same way in San José: same RDA, same 2 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
Plain in a RDA is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In San José the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
If you only read one line: the RDA you buy decides how long plain tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a plain RDA really costs in San José
If you are looking at plain in Costa Rica, the first question is not strength. It is whether the RDA you are quoting actually fits the device on your desk.
How we tested plain in a RDA
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Stock depth: 11 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Batch code and production date, so a plain bottle turned in 2 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Spare parts availability for RDA in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
Where plain goes wrong
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Costa Rica accept nicotine freight.
- Treating the advertised ₡64 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡3.48 per 10 ml.
- Mixing plain with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority. Shipping of nicotine to Costa Rica runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.
Packaging for plain in Costa Rica must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.

Frequently asked questions
Is plain legal to sell in Costa Rica?
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.
What nicotine strength should plain start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a RDA.
How long does plain in a RDA last?
In San José we measured 2 to 11 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
