Pear zero-nicotine bottle IQOS in San José: the best shortlist
Pear in San José: 14 units tested over 2 weeks, zero-nicotine bottle formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Where buyers go wrong with pear in Costa Rica
There is no single best way to buy IQOS in Costa Rica. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
Pear prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡3.35 per 10 ml.
The short version: pear in San José works if the zero-nicotine bottle, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a pear zero-nicotine bottle really costs in San José
We run pear the same way in San José: same zero-nicotine bottle, same 2 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
How we tested pear in a zero-nicotine bottle
- Pick the zero-nicotine bottle that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
- Batch code and production date, so a pear bottle turned in 2 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Coil type inside the zero-nicotine bottle, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
Where pear goes wrong
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why pear tastes flat after two days.
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long pear in San José survives.
- Buying the cheapest zero-nicotine bottle available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
