Pear cartomizer IQOS in San José: the deals shortlist
Pear in San José: 23 units tested over 6 weeks, cartomizer formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
What pear costs in San José
Pear in a cartomizer is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In San José the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
The honest read on pear: 23 units through the same routine over 6 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
If you only read one line: the cartomizer you buy decides how long pear tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a pear cartomizer really costs in San José
A pear cartomizer from the discounted options in Costa Rica costs about ₡3.43 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
How we tested pear in a cartomizer
- Pick the cartomizer that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Stock depth: 23 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Batch code and production date, so a pear bottle turned in 6 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
Where pear goes wrong
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why pear tastes flat after two days.
- Treating the advertised ₡64 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡3.43 per 10 ml.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.

Frequently asked questions
What nicotine strength should pear start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a cartomizer.
Why does pear taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the cartomizer units we ran, a coil past 6 days turned the pear blend itself harsh.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On pear the budget price and the premium price can sit within ₡3.43 per 10 ml once 4–9 business days is counted.
