Melon box mod IQOS in San José: the flat shortlist
Melon in San José: 17 units tested over 4 weeks, box mod formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Choosing a box mod for melon
The honest read on melon: 17 units through the same routine over 4 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
There is no single best way to buy IQOS in Costa Rica. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
The short version: melon in San José works if the box mod, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a melon box mod really costs in San José
We run melon the same way in San José: same box mod, same 4 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
How we tested melon in a box mod
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Pick the box mod that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a box mod arrives sealed but wrong.
- Stock depth: 17 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- Batch code and production date, so a melon bottle turned in 4 weeks ago is not sold as new.
Where melon goes wrong
- Treating the advertised ₡32 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡2.46 per 10 ml.
- Chasing a discount on a box mod that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long melon in San José survives.
The rules that apply here
Wholesale lines to Costa Rica need import documents the retail shop does not; ask for them in writing before a bulk order.

Frequently asked questions
Why does melon taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the box mod units we ran, a coil past 5 days turned the melon blend itself harsh.
Is melon legal to sell in Costa Rica?
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.
How long does melon in a box mod last?
In San José we measured 4 to 17 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
