Lime cartomizer IQOS in San José: the compare shortlist
Lime in San José: 11 units tested over 8 weeks, cartomizer formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Coil life, liquid cost and the lime habit
A lime cartomizer from the compared options in Costa Rica costs about ₡3.31 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
If you are looking at lime in Costa Rica, the first question is not strength. It is whether the cartomizer you are quoting actually fits the device on your desk.
The short version: lime in San José works if the cartomizer, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a lime cartomizer really costs in San José
Lime prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡3.31 per 10 ml.
How we tested lime in a cartomizer
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Pick the cartomizer that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every lime bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
- Batch code and production date, so a lime bottle turned in 8 weeks ago is not sold as new.
Where lime goes wrong
- Mixing lime with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why lime tastes flat after two days.
The rules that apply here
Packaging for lime in Costa Rica must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.

Frequently asked questions
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On lime the budget price and the premium price can sit within ₡3.31 per 10 ml once 4–9 business days is counted.
How long does lime in a cartomizer last?
In San José we measured 8 to 11 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
Why does lime taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the cartomizer units we ran, a coil past 4 days turned the lime blend itself harsh.
