Coil life, liquid cost and the iced habit
A iced pen device from the pre-order options in Costa Rica costs about ₡3.56 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
There is no single best way to buy IQOS in Costa Rica. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
Below is the run we did for this search: 13 units, pen device, same room temperature, same juice rotation. Where results varied, the variation is printed rather than averaged away.
What a iced pen device really costs in San José
A iced pen device from the pre-order options in Costa Rica costs about ₡3.56 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
How we tested iced in a pen device
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Spare parts availability for pen device in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Batch code and production date, so a iced bottle turned in 6 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Coil type inside the pen device, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
Where iced goes wrong
- Treating the advertised ₡36 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡3.56 per 10 ml.
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long iced in San José survives.
- Chasing a discount on a pen device that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
