Herbal vape pen IQOS in San José: the cheap shortlist
Herbal in San José: 6 units tested over 6 weeks, vape pen formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Choosing a vape pen for herbal
We run herbal the same way in San José: same vape pen, same 6 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
If you are looking at herbal in Costa Rica, the first question is not strength. It is whether the vape pen you are quoting actually fits the device on your desk.
The short version: herbal in San José works if the vape pen, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a herbal vape pen really costs in San José
Most people searching IQOS in Costa Rica are not after a spec sheet. They want to know what it costs, how long it lasts and which shop will still service it in three months.
How we tested herbal in a vape pen
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Pick the vape pen that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Stock depth: 6 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every herbal bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Batch code and production date, so a herbal bottle turned in 6 weeks ago is not sold as new.
Where herbal goes wrong
- Chasing a discount on a vape pen that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
- Treating the advertised ₡42 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡2.87 per 10 ml.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why herbal tastes flat after two days.
The rules that apply here
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
Packaging for herbal in Costa Rica must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.
| What it is | This page | Why it matters |

| Stock checked | 6 lines | Batch-traced, dated production runs only |
| Nicotine ceiling | varies | Legal retail limit in Costa Rica |
| Coil life | ~7 days | The hidden monthly cost |
| Delivery to Costa Rica | 4–9 business days | Buffer the reorder around this |
| Entry kit | ₡42 | What a first order really pays |
| Refill cost | ₡2.87 / 10 ml | The figure that decides the habit |

Frequently asked questions
Why does herbal taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the vape pen units we ran, a coil past 7 days turned the herbal blend itself harsh.
Is herbal legal to sell in Costa Rica?
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.
How long does herbal in a vape pen last?
In San José we measured 6 to 6 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
