Herbal starter kit IQOS in San José: the deals shortlist
Herbal in San José: 23 units tested over 4 weeks, starter kit formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
How we tested Herbal starter kit here
The honest read on herbal: 23 units through the same routine over 4 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
Herbal in a starter kit is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In San José the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
If you only read one line: the starter kit you buy decides how long herbal tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a herbal starter kit really costs in San José
Herbal in a starter kit is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In San José the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
How we tested herbal in a starter kit
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Pick the starter kit that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Coil type inside the starter kit, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- Spare parts availability for starter kit in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
Where herbal goes wrong
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Costa Rica accept nicotine freight.
- Mixing herbal with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Buying the cheapest starter kit available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
The rules that apply here

Yes, tracked to 4–9 business days, with the same-day cut-off at 14:00. Bulk orders get an import note attached before dispatch.
Why does herbal taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the starter kit units we ran, a coil past 4 days turned the herbal blend itself harsh.
