Graphite box mod IQOS in San José: the budget shortlist
Graphite in San José: 21 units tested over 4 weeks, box mod formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Stock, batch codes and the dispatch window
The honest read on graphite: 21 units through the same routine over 4 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
There is no single best way to buy IQOS in Costa Rica. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
The short version: graphite in San José works if the box mod, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a graphite box mod really costs in San José
If you are looking at graphite in Costa Rica, the first question is not strength. It is whether the box mod you are quoting actually fits the device on your desk.
How we tested graphite in a box mod
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Pick the box mod that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Spare parts availability for box mod in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every graphite bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- Stock depth: 21 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
Where graphite goes wrong
- Ignoring the batch date on a box mod and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
- Mixing graphite with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long graphite in San José survives.
The rules that apply here
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority. Shipping of nicotine to Costa Rica runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.

Frequently asked questions
Is graphite legal to sell in Costa Rica?
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.
Why does graphite taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the box mod units we ran, a coil past 6 days turned the graphite blend itself harsh.
What nicotine strength should graphite start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a box mod.
