Frozen starter kit IQOS in San José: the deals shortlist
Frozen in San José: 23 units tested over 5 weeks, starter kit formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Coil life, liquid cost and the frozen habit
There is no single best way to buy IQOS in Costa Rica. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
Frozen in San José reaches the shelf in starter kit formats, and the discounted ones are rarely the ones that stay in stock. Availability, not taste, is what breaks an order.
Below is the run we did for this search: 23 units, starter kit, same room temperature, same juice rotation. Where results varied, the variation is printed rather than averaged away.
What a frozen starter kit really costs in San José
A frozen starter kit from the discounted options in Costa Rica costs about ₡2.74 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
How we tested frozen in a starter kit
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Pick the starter kit that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a starter kit arrives sealed but wrong.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
- Batch code and production date, so a frozen bottle turned in 5 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every frozen bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
Where frozen goes wrong
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long frozen in San José survives.
- Chasing a discount on a starter kit that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
- Buying the cheapest starter kit available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
The rules that apply here
Wholesale lines to Costa Rica need import documents the retail shop does not; ask for them in writing before a bulk order.
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.

Frequently asked questions
Is frozen legal to sell in Costa Rica?
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.
How long does frozen in a starter kit last?
In San José we measured 5 to 23 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
What nicotine strength should frozen start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a starter kit.
