What the label on Fig is allowed to say
The honest read on fig: 11 units through the same routine over 8 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
A fig cartomizer from the cheapest options in Costa Rica costs about ₡3.06 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
The short version: fig in San José works if the cartomizer, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a fig cartomizer really costs in San José
A fig cartomizer from the cheapest options in Costa Rica costs about ₡3.06 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
How we tested fig in a cartomizer
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Pick the cartomizer that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Coil type inside the cartomizer, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Stock depth: 11 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Batch code and production date, so a fig bottle turned in 8 weeks ago is not sold as new.
Where fig goes wrong
- Mixing fig with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Ignoring the batch date on a cartomizer and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
The rules that apply here
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
Packaging for fig in Costa Rica must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.

Frequently asked questions
Is fig legal to sell in Costa Rica?
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On fig the budget price and the premium price can sit within ₡3.06 per 10 ml once 4–9 business days is counted.
Why does fig taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the cartomizer units we ran, a coil past 6 days turned the fig blend itself harsh.
