Dessert mesh tank IQOS in San José: the flat shortlist
Dessert in San José: 11 units tested over 8 weeks, mesh tank formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Delivery, returns and what 4–9 business days really means
A dessert mesh tank from the flat-rate options in Costa Rica costs about ₡2.59 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
There is no single best way to buy IQOS in Costa Rica. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
Below is the run we did for this search: 11 units, mesh tank, same room temperature, same juice rotation. Where results varied, the variation is printed rather than averaged away.
What a dessert mesh tank really costs in San José
Dessert in a mesh tank is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In San José the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
How we tested dessert in a mesh tank
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a mesh tank arrives sealed but wrong.
- Coil type inside the mesh tank, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Spare parts availability for mesh tank in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
- Batch code and production date, so a dessert bottle turned in 8 weeks ago is not sold as new.
Where dessert goes wrong
- Ignoring the batch date on a mesh tank and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why dessert tastes flat after two days.
- Treating the advertised ₡39 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡2.59 per 10 ml.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.

Frequently asked questions
What nicotine strength should dessert start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a mesh tank.
How much does a mesh tank cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in San José: about ₡2.59 per 10 ml liquid plus ₡39 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
Why does dessert taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the mesh tank units we ran, a coil past 6 days turned the dessert blend itself harsh.
