Dessert box mod IQOS in San José: the order shortlist
Dessert in San José: 15 units tested over 4 weeks, box mod formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Choosing a box mod for dessert
Dessert prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡3.54 per 10 ml.
Dessert sounds like one product. It is not: a box mod running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
If you only read one line: the box mod you buy decides how long dessert tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a dessert box mod really costs in San José
There is no single best way to buy IQOS in Costa Rica. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
How we tested dessert in a box mod
- Pick the box mod that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Spare parts availability for box mod in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- Stock depth: 15 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
Where dessert goes wrong
- Treating the advertised ₡45 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡3.54 per 10 ml.
- Mixing dessert with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Costa Rica accept nicotine freight.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority. Shipping of nicotine to Costa Rica runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.

Frequently asked questions
How long does dessert in a box mod last?
In San José we measured 4 to 15 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
What nicotine strength should dessert start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a box mod.
Can I order IQOS online in Costa Rica?
Yes, tracked dispatch before 14:00, and delivery lands in 4–9 business days. Stock is batch-traced, so the bottle you receive carries a dated code.
