Cream pen device IQOS in San José: the order shortlist
Cream in San José: 21 units tested over 5 weeks, pen device formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Where buyers go wrong with cream in Costa Rica
Cream in San José reaches the shelf in pen device formats, and the pre-order ones are rarely the ones that stay in stock. Availability, not taste, is what breaks an order.
Cream in a pen device is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In San José the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
If you only read one line: the pen device you buy decides how long cream tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a cream pen device really costs in San José
Cream in a pen device is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In San José the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
How we tested cream in a pen device
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Pick the pen device that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a pen device arrives sealed but wrong.
- Coil type inside the pen device, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Batch code and production date, so a cream bottle turned in 5 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every cream bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
Where cream goes wrong
- Ignoring the batch date on a pen device and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why cream tastes flat after two days.
The rules that apply here
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
Packaging for cream in Costa Rica must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.

In San José we measured 5 to 21 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.

Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the pen device units we ran, a coil past 7 days turned the cream blend itself harsh.
How much does a pen device cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in San José: about ₡2.17 per 10 ml liquid plus ₡39 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
