Sour starter kit IQOS in San José: the compare shortlist
Sour in San José: 21 units tested over 6 weeks, starter kit formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
How to tell a good starter kit from a repack
We run sour the same way in San José: same starter kit, same 6 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
Sour sounds like one product. It is not: a starter kit running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
Below is the run we did for this search: 21 units, starter kit, same room temperature, same juice rotation. Where results varied, the variation is printed rather than averaged away.
What a sour starter kit really costs in San José
Sour sounds like one product. It is not: a starter kit running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
How we tested sour in a starter kit
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Pick the starter kit that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Batch code and production date, so a sour bottle turned in 6 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Spare parts availability for starter kit in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
Where sour goes wrong
- Treating the advertised ₡33 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡3.04 per 10 ml.
- Mixing sour with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Chasing a discount on a starter kit that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
