Cola in San José: 20 units tested over 3 weeks, refill pack formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Choosing a refill pack for cola
We run cola the same way in San José: same refill pack, same 3 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
Cola prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡2.77 per 10 ml.
The short version: cola in San José works if the refill pack, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a cola refill pack really costs in San José
We run cola the same way in San José: same refill pack, same 3 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
How we tested cola in a refill pack
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Coil type inside the refill pack, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every cola bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
- Spare parts availability for refill pack in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
Where cola goes wrong
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Chasing a discount on a refill pack that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Costa Rica accept nicotine freight.
