Cola pen device IQOS in San José: the order shortlist
Cola in San José: 8 units tested over 5 weeks, pen device formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
What the label on Cola is allowed to say
We run cola the same way in San José: same pen device, same 5 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
A cola pen device from the pre-order options in Costa Rica costs about ₡2.11 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
Below is the run we did for this search: 8 units, pen device, same room temperature, same juice rotation. Where results varied, the variation is printed rather than averaged away.
What a cola pen device really costs in San José
Ordering into San José usually means waiting 4–9 business days. Plan the reorder around that, not around the flavour you like best.
How we tested cola in a pen device
- Pick the pen device that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- Batch code and production date, so a cola bottle turned in 5 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Coil type inside the pen device, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
Where cola goes wrong
- Chasing a discount on a pen device that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
- Treating the advertised ₡60 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡2.11 per 10 ml.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.

Frequently asked questions
Why does cola taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the pen device units we ran, a coil past 7 days turned the cola blend itself harsh.
How much does a pen device cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in San José: about ₡2.11 per 10 ml liquid plus ₡60 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
How long does cola in a pen device last?
In San José we measured 5 to 8 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
