Citrus 30 ml shortfill IQOS in San José: the deals shortlist
Citrus in San José: 10 units tested over 6 weeks, 30 ml shortfill formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
How to tell a good 30 ml shortfill from a repack
Ordering into San José usually means waiting 4–9 business days. Plan the reorder around that, not around the flavour you like best.
Citrus prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡1.76 per 10 ml.
If you only read one line: the 30 ml shortfill you buy decides how long citrus tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a citrus 30 ml shortfill really costs in San José
There is no single best way to buy IQOS in Costa Rica. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
How we tested citrus in a 30 ml shortfill
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Pick the 30 ml shortfill that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Batch code and production date, so a citrus bottle turned in 6 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Stock depth: 10 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- Spare parts availability for 30 ml shortfill in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
Where citrus goes wrong
- Buying the cheapest 30 ml shortfill available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Costa Rica accept nicotine freight.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
The rules that apply here
Wholesale lines to Costa Rica need import documents the retail shop does not; ask for them in writing before a bulk order.
Packaging for citrus in Costa Rica must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a 30 ml shortfill cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in San José: about ₡1.76 per 10 ml liquid plus ₡68 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On citrus the budget price and the premium price can sit within ₡1.76 per 10 ml once 4–9 business days is counted.
Why does citrus taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the 30 ml shortfill units we ran, a coil past 5 days turned the citrus blend itself harsh.
