Caramel mesh tank IQOS in San José: the budget shortlist
Caramel in San José: 20 units tested over 2 weeks, mesh tank formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Stock, batch codes and the dispatch window
If you are looking at caramel in Costa Rica, the first question is not strength. It is whether the mesh tank you are quoting actually fits the device on your desk.
A caramel mesh tank from the budget options in Costa Rica costs about ₡3.18 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
The short version: caramel in San José works if the mesh tank, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a caramel mesh tank really costs in San José
The honest read on caramel: 20 units through the same routine over 2 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
How we tested caramel in a mesh tank
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Pick the mesh tank that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Batch code and production date, so a caramel bottle turned in 2 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Coil type inside the mesh tank, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
Where caramel goes wrong
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Treating the advertised ₡62 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡3.18 per 10 ml.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why caramel tastes flat after two days.
The rules that apply here

Frequently asked questions
What nicotine strength should caramel start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a mesh tank.
Can I order IQOS online in Costa Rica?
Yes, tracked dispatch before 14:00, and delivery lands in 4–9 business days. Stock is batch-traced, so the bottle you receive carries a dated code.
Why does caramel taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the mesh tank units we ran, a coil past 5 days turned the caramel blend itself harsh.
