Plum refill pack IQOS in San José: the cheap shortlist
Plum in San José: 19 units tested over 9 weeks, refill pack formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Where buyers go wrong with plum in Costa Rica
Plum in a refill pack is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In San José the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
We run plum the same way in San José: same refill pack, same 9 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
The short version: plum in San José works if the refill pack, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a plum refill pack really costs in San José
Most people searching IQOS in Costa Rica are not after a spec sheet. They want to know what it costs, how long it lasts and which shop will still service it in three months.
How we tested plum in a refill pack
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a refill pack arrives sealed but wrong.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- Batch code and production date, so a plum bottle turned in 9 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
Where plum goes wrong
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why plum tastes flat after two days.
- Treating the advertised ₡47 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡1.66 per 10 ml.
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long plum in San José survives.
The rules that apply here
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
Wholesale lines to Costa Rica need import documents the retail shop does not; ask for them in writing before a bulk order.

Frequently asked questions
How long does plum in a refill pack last?
In San José we measured 9 to 19 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.

Is plum legal to sell in Costa Rica?
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.
