Candy vape pen IQOS in San José: the budget shortlist
Candy in San José: 23 units tested over 5 weeks, vape pen formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Coil life, liquid cost and the candy habit
Candy in San José reaches the shelf in vape pen formats, and the budget ones are rarely the ones that stay in stock. Availability, not taste, is what breaks an order.
A candy vape pen from the budget options in Costa Rica costs about ₡1.94 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
If you only read one line: the vape pen you buy decides how long candy tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a candy vape pen really costs in San José
Candy prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡1.94 per 10 ml.
How we tested candy in a vape pen
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Pick the vape pen that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Stock depth: 23 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Batch code and production date, so a candy bottle turned in 5 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- Coil type inside the vape pen, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
Where candy goes wrong
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why candy tastes flat after two days.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Mixing candy with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
The rules that apply here
Wholesale lines to Costa Rica need import documents the retail shop does not; ask for them in writing before a bulk order.
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
