Candy starter kit IQOS in San José: the budget shortlist
Candy in San José: 10 units tested over 8 weeks, starter kit formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Delivery, returns and what 4–9 business days really means
The honest read on candy: 10 units through the same routine over 8 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
Ordering into San José usually means waiting 4–9 business days. Plan the reorder around that, not around the flavour you like best.
Below is the run we did for this search: 10 units, starter kit, same room temperature, same juice rotation. Where results varied, the variation is printed rather than averaged away.
What a candy starter kit really costs in San José
If you are looking at candy in Costa Rica, the first question is not strength. It is whether the starter kit you are quoting actually fits the device on your desk.
How we tested candy in a starter kit
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Pick the starter kit that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- Coil type inside the starter kit, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a starter kit arrives sealed but wrong.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
Where candy goes wrong
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Chasing a discount on a starter kit that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
- Treating the advertised ₡56 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡3.19 per 10 ml.

Frequently asked questions
What nicotine strength should candy start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a starter kit.
How much does a starter kit cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in San José: about ₡3.19 per 10 ml liquid plus ₡56 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
How long does candy in a starter kit last?
In San José we measured 8 to 10 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
