Candy prefilled pod IQOS in San José: the flat shortlist
Candy in San José: 11 units tested over 7 weeks, prefilled pod formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Stock, batch codes and the dispatch window
A candy prefilled pod from the flat-rate options in Costa Rica costs about ₡2.34 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
Candy prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡2.34 per 10 ml.
If you only read one line: the prefilled pod you buy decides how long candy tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a candy prefilled pod really costs in San José
There is no single best way to buy IQOS in Costa Rica. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
How we tested candy in a prefilled pod
- Pick the prefilled pod that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- Coil type inside the prefilled pod, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Stock depth: 11 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Batch code and production date, so a candy bottle turned in 7 weeks ago is not sold as new.
Where candy goes wrong
- Mixing candy with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Buying the cheapest prefilled pod available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Treating the advertised ₡56 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡2.34 per 10 ml.
The rules that apply here
Packaging for candy in Costa Rica must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.

Frequently asked questions
How long does candy in a prefilled pod last?
In San José we measured 7 to 11 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
What nicotine strength should candy start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a prefilled pod.
Do you ship tracked orders to Costa Rica?
Yes, tracked to 4–9 business days, with the same-day cut-off at 14:00. Bulk orders get an import note attached before dispatch.
