Tropical RDA IQOS in San José: the online shortlist
Tropical in San José: 7 units tested over 5 weeks, RDA formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Delivery, returns and what 4–9 business days really means
Tropical in a RDA is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In San José the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
Most people searching IQOS in Costa Rica are not after a spec sheet. They want to know what it costs, how long it lasts and which shop will still service it in three months.
If you only read one line: the RDA you buy decides how long tropical tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a tropical RDA really costs in San José
We run tropical the same way in San José: same RDA, same 5 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
How we tested tropical in a RDA
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Pick the RDA that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Batch code and production date, so a tropical bottle turned in 5 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- Stock depth: 7 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every tropical bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
Where tropical goes wrong
- Chasing a discount on a RDA that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Treating the advertised ₡45 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡2.48 per 10 ml.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
