Tropical 30 ml shortfill IQOS in San José: the order shortlist
Tropical in San José: 19 units tested over 5 weeks, 30 ml shortfill formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
How we tested Tropical 30 ml shortfill here
A tropical 30 ml shortfill from the pre-order options in Costa Rica costs about ₡1.7 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
Tropical prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡1.7 per 10 ml.
Below is the run we did for this search: 19 units, 30 ml shortfill, same room temperature, same juice rotation. Where results varied, the variation is printed rather than averaged away.
What a tropical 30 ml shortfill really costs in San José
Tropical sounds like one product. It is not: a 30 ml shortfill running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
How we tested tropical in a 30 ml shortfill
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Pick the 30 ml shortfill that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Coil type inside the 30 ml shortfill, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Batch code and production date, so a tropical bottle turned in 5 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
Where tropical goes wrong
- Buying the cheapest 30 ml shortfill available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Treating the advertised ₡46 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡1.7 per 10 ml.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why tropical tastes flat after two days.
